Jazz on the National Mall

This highly popular, free, all day concert, featuring a representation of Jazz’s most celebrated artists, is the biggest and best-attended event of the Festival. This star-studded free celebration at the Sylvan Theater on the National Mall at the foot of the Washington Monument attracts more than 30,000 visitors each year to see and hear world renowned jazz artists.
Past performers include the DCJF co-Artistic Director and 10-time Grammy Award-winner Paquito D’Rivera & The United Nation Orchestra; McCoy Tyner; Dee Dee Bridgewater; Christian McBride; Taj Mahal, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue; the Terence Blanchard Quintet; Don Vappie & the Creole Jazz Serenaders; Little Freddie King; Buckwheat Zydeco; Nicholas Payton; and Irma Thomas.
