Karen Brooks

Karen Brooks serves as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. Karen brings over 25 years of executive assistance experience with reputable law firms in DC. She has a great love for jazz music and all its extensions. Karen is also a star volunteer with several organizations, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, whose mission is to “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Cesar Orozco & Kamarata Jazz

César Orozco is a prolific Cuban/Venezuelan pianist, violinist, composer, arranger, producer, and educator based in the New York City area. Mr. Orozco moved to the United States in 2012 after receiving a full tuition Assistantship from The Peabody Institute of John Hopkins University, where he earned a Graduate Performance Diploma (GPD) in Jazz Piano. He also holds a degree in Violin Performance and Ensemble Conducting from the National School of Arts in Havana, Cuba. Since arriving in the States, Orozco has become a much in-demand pianist in both Jazz and Latin-American music.

Lennie Robinson

Born October 4, 1956, Lenny Robinson has become one of the foremost voices of jazz at the drums. He grew up in Baltimore, Md. in a very rich musical environment. He played piano and organ in his father's church in his early teens. He also played trumpet in both junior high and high school. The love of percussion was felt in the ninth grade and the rest, as they say, is history. 

David Schulman + Quiet Life Motel

By turns nocturnal, reflective, funky, and cinematic, the music of violinist and composer David Schulman and Quiet Life Motel is a weave of jazz harmonies, shimmering orchestral textures, and international grooves.

Heard nationally on NPR, David’s music has been described as “mysterious and beautiful” by The Washington Post. ANHINGA — the new release from David’s Quiet Life Motel project — made CapitolBop’s list of “Best DC Jazz Albums of 2016.”

Kendall Isadore Trio

Born in Houston, Texas, Kendall Nicole Isadore is a Vocalist, Violinist, Pianist, Songwriter and Instructor. A recent graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, music has always been Kendall’s passion. She has been playing the violin, singing, and playing the piano since she was 8 years old.

Leigh Pilzer

Saxophonist/arranger Leigh Pilzer has performed at many of Washington, DC’s top jazz venues, including Blues Alley, Twins Jazz, Westminster Presbyterian, the Atlas Performing Arts Center, Jazz at the Garden, The Mansion at Strathmore, and the Takoma Park JazzFest, among others.

Herb Scott Quartet

Herb Scott is a saxophonist from the Washington D.C. area who grew up playing at the Potter's House. As a student Herb participated in various arts programs in the DC area including the Levine School of Music and Duke Ellington High School for Performing Arts. He left the DC area to study Jazz Studies at Michigan State. Since returning, Herb has become one of the most popular saxophonists in the area, leading the acclaimed Capitol Hill Jazz Jam and performing with the likes of Dovontae McCoy, Warren Wolf, and more.
