DC Jazz Festival Announces Dates for the 21st Annual DC JazzFest

Five Days of World-Class Jazz and Dynamic Performances Set for August 27-31, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – January 28, 2025 – The DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) is thrilled to announce that the 21st Annual DC JazzFest will take place from August 27 through August 31, 2025. This five-day citywide celebration of jazz will feature performances across more than dozen venues and stages, showcasing vibrant collaborations with DC community partners.

The festival’s signature weekend, taking place on August 30 and 31, will once again spotlight The District Wharf, a popular waterfront destination offering stunning river views, diverse dining, pop-ups, and shopping. Additionally, this year’s festivities will extend to the acclaimed Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, located just steps from The Wharf. Together, these venues offer audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy jazz in both an outdoor riverfront setting and a world-class indoor performance space.

The DC JazzFest at The Wharf will feature multiple stages along the waterfront, including the highly anticipated DCJazzPrix, an international competition for emerging jazz bands, held at Union Stage. Meanwhile, Arena Stage will host an exciting lineup of performances alongside the festival’s celebrated “Meet the Artist” events, providing fans with intimate opportunities to connect with DC JazzFest artists.

“The DC JazzFest is a true gem of Washington, DC’s cultural calendar,” said Elliott L. Ferguson, II, President & CEO of Destination DC, the official destination marketing organization for Washington, DC. “It’s the perfect way to close out summer in the nation’s capital, blending world-class artistry with the picturesque backdrop of The Wharf.”

The 21st Annual DC JazzFest promises an electrifying lineup of artists, ranging from top local talents to international superstars, globally emerging artists, and NEA Jazz Masters. Attendees can look forward to dozens of performances, engaging panel discussions, and “Meet the Artist” conversations that celebrate the rich legacy and vibrant future of jazz.

“The DC JazzFest is a vibrant celebration of jazz, community, and culture, bringing together extraordinary artists and audiences in some of the most iconic settings in our nation’s capital,” said Sunny Sumter, President and CEO of the DC Jazz Festival. “We are thrilled to welcome jazz lovers from around the globe to experience this year’s unforgettable festival, happening August 27-31.”

The full lineup and additional details will be announced soon.
