Australia, France, Italy, Chile, Finland and Cuba Come to DC JazzFest At The Wharf
WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 19, 2024 — The DC Jazz Festival® (DCJF) celebrates the international language of jazz during its 20th anniversary program.
One of the great treasures of Washington, DC is the vibrant foreign embassy community. Proving once again that jazz is an international language, DC Jazz Festival is honored to partner with the embassies of Australia, Chile, Cuba, Finland, France, and Italy to present the wonderful artistry of great saxophonist James Morrison (Australia), the woman-centric ensemble Confluencia (Chile), the explosive Cimafunk (Cuba), the dynamic piano expressions and original compositions of Joonas Haavisto (Finland), the craft and aplomb of bassist Clovis Nicholas Quartet (France) with special guest acclaimed trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, and the master trumpeter Paolo Fresu (Italy). These sterling representatives of jazz globalism will be presented across DCJazzFest at The Wharf stages, including District Pier, Transit Pier, and Union Stage.
Tickets are available here: DC JazzFest | Labor Day Weekend
“Of all our many fruitful community collaborations, one which has given so much joy to our annual festivals and our year-round presenting schedule is our growing circle of foreign embassy partnerships. We are thrilled to once again be presenting incredible artistry from across the globe on our stages,” says DCJF President & CEO Sunny Sumter.
As the largest and most diverse music festival in the nation’s capital, DC JazzFest reaches more than 100,000 residents & visitors of all ages each Labor Day Weekend with performances in neighborhoods citywide, at The District Wharf, Arena Stage, Union Stage, The Anthem, Takoma Station, Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Kreeger Museum, and other area clubs, parks, and restaurants.
